The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works (ECDPW) aim to supply high quality infrastructure services to its residents.

The ECDPW implemented the bursary scheme to promote skill development within fields of study related to Engineering Sciences and Property related professions. This year the department will be awarding bursaries to 50 students who reside within the province of the Eastern Cape.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Actuarial Science (BSc)
  • Civil Engineering (BSc)
  • Electrical Engineering (BSc)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSc)
  • Structural Engineering (BSc)
  • Architecture (BSc/ Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Building (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Construction Studies (BSc)
  • Land Surveying (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Quantity Surveying (BSc)
  • Town Planning (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Real Estate (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Property Valuation (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)
  • Property Studies (BSc)
  • Interior Design (Degree/ B-Tech/ Diploma)

 

MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

Once graduated, students will be required to work for the Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works, for an equal period of time as the bursary awarded.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted – if you do not receive any feedback from the ECDPW, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Permanently resident within the Eastern Cape province
  • From a disadvantaged background
  • High academic results/ strong potential
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or plan on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying or plan on studying at a recognised and accredited South African University/ University of Technology
  • NOT currently in possession of any other bursary funding
  • In financial need- cannot afford tertiary education
  • *Preference will be given to female students, those with disabilities and children of military veterans

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Download and complete the Eastern Cape Department of Public Works Bursary Application Form (.pdf)
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Latest academic record, if at tertiary (certified copy)
  • Letter enrolment/ provisional acceptance from a tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence from your local authority (certified copy)
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed)
