ABOUT THE COMPANY – ERIC & CHARMAINE MABUZA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

The Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Scholarship Foundation was founded in 1999 by Adv. Eric Mabuza and Charmaine Mabuza, in order to help the youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and remote rural areas to achieve their academic dreams.

The Mabuza’s believe that education is the answer to breaking the cycle of poverty, and since the Foundation was established, it has played a major role in the education of many students who have since become qualified professionals in their fields.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Scholarship will cover the following fields of study (undergraduate degrees only):
Commerce:

  • Accounting
  • Management Accounting & Finance
  • Marketing

Information Technology:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Communication Networks
  • Information Systems
  • Software Development

 

MORE ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION PROCESS

The scholarship will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, study materials, accommodation, meals or an allowance if accommodation does include meals.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview, thereafter successful applicants will be contacted. If you do not receive any feedback then please accept that your application was not successful.

Bursary recipients will be required to attend Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Foundation events and take part in Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Foundation alumni activities, when requested. Once students have graduated, they will be expected to pay it forward by giving back, to continue practicing the mission of the Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Not older than 35 years old
  • Accepted to study or currently studying at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Accepted to study or currently studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study (1st year and going into 2nd year)
  • Willing to specialise in Commerce or IT fields of study
  • Achieved a minimum average of 70% for each subject in the previous year of study
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 70% for the previous year of study
  • Dedicated to achieving and maintaining good academic results
  • From a previously disadvantaged background
  • Total household income no more than R350 000 per year
  • Willing to give back to your community
  • Possess the following personal attributes: diligent, insightful, enthusiastic and hard working

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation on your online application profile (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Last years academic transcript (certified copy)
  • Provisional letter of admission (on tertiary institutions letterhead)
  • Provisional letter of admission for residency or private accommodation (on tertiary institutions letterhead)
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents/ guardians/ students proof of income (latest payslip or employment letter if employed/ affidavit if an informal trader/ SASSA letter if receiving a grant: certified copy)
  • If not living with one parent, include an affidavit explaining why
  • If supported by someone other than a parent or guardian, include an affidavit explaining why
  • Motivational letter, explaining why you should be awarded the scholarship and how you will contribute to your community upliftment
