The global precious metal mining group is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), as well as on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

The companies South Africa-based operations include the Beatrix operation (located in the Free State), the Kloof; Driefontein and Cooke operations (located in Gauteng) – these comprise of surface and underground gold mining operations.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Sibanye-Stillwater will be awarding bursaries to students who reside within the companies local community and labour sending areas and intend on studying at one of the 4 selected universities: University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, or North-West University. Gauteng (Kloof) will be awarding 9 bursaries, while North West (Rustenburg and Kroondal) will be awarding 83 bursaries.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering (BSc)
  • Electrical Engineering (BSc)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSc)
  • Metallurgy Engineering (BSc)

North West (Rustenburg and Kroondal) students:

  • Electrical Engineering (NDipl/ BSc/ BEng/ BTech/ BComm degrees and higher)
  • Geology Engineering (NDipl/ BSc/ BEng/ BTech/ BComm degrees and higher)
  • Instrumentation Engineering (NDipl/ BSc/ BEng/ BTech/ BComm degrees and higher)
  • Mechanical Engineering (NDipl/ BSc/ BEng/ BTech/ BComm degrees and higher)
  • Metallurgy Engineering (NDipl/ BSc/ BEng/ BTech/ BComm degrees and higher)

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and reqired to attend a panel interview. Pre-screening and psychometric evaluation will also form part of the selection process. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
Gauteng (Kloof) students:

  • South African citizen
  • Reside within the Kloof Labour sending Area or local community
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or accepted to study full-time towards one of the aforementioned qualifications
  • Studying or accepted to study at one of the following institiutes: University of Johannesburg/ University of Pretoria/ University of the Witwatersrand/ North-West University
  • Achieved a minimum university acceptance APS of 23
  • Achieved a minimum of 60% for English, 60% for Mathematics and 60% for Physical Science in Matric
  • Students who achieved above 60% for Mathematics and English in Matric will have an added advantage
  • Students who achieved an evaluation outcome score of 4 or higher will also have an added advantage
  • Preference will be given to students from Beatrix local communities and labour sending
  • Medically fit

North West (Rustenburg and Kroondal) students:

  • South African citizen
  • Reside within the Rustenburg or Kroondal Labour sending Area or local community
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or accepted to study full-time towards one of the aforementioned qualifications
  • Studying or accepted to study at one of the following institiutes: University of Johannesburg/ University of Pretoria/ University of the Witwatersrand/ North-West University
